If you're wandering the charming streets of Armagh, make sure to find your way to The Basement, nestled at 25-37 Market St. This inviting cafe has lodged itself firmly in the hearts of locals—and for good reason. With its warm atmosphere and deliciously honest food, The Basement is more than just a place to grab a bite; it's a cherished community hub.

This cafe specializes in classic, no-frills cuisine that embodies comfort and familiarity. From the moment you step in, the tantalizing aromas wafting from the kitchen greet you, making your mouth water in anticipation. Regulars rave about their legendary breakfast, which is often touted as "the best fry-up on the island." Picture perfectly crispy bacon, golden fried eggs, and fluffy sausages all harmoniously plated to create a loyal fan base.

But the star of the show doesn't end with breakfast. The Basement offers a delightful range of dishes, particularly the potato skins, which have received glowing reviews for their crispy texture and rich toppings. Each bite melts in your mouth, transporting your taste buds to comfort food heaven. And for those looking for something a bit different, the specials—like the recent delectable burger paired with taco onions, chips, coleslaw, and peppered sauce—further showcase the kitchen’s creativity and commitment to quality.

What truly sets The Basement apart is its commitment to customer service. Diners rave about how the staff treats every guest like family. Reviewers like Gildy 88 note the unmatched hospitality where "the girls know every person through the door," making each visit feel welcoming and personal. Every meal is served with a side of genuine smiles and attentive service, ensuring that you leave with your heart and stomach full.

The Basement is also recognized for its impressive value for money. As Gavin Bradley insightfully points out, you'd be hard-pressed to find a place with such delicious food at such reasonable prices. Many have claimed they would willingly pay double for such generous portions and quality, and that speaks volumes about the cafe's dedication to its patrons.

As you sip on your coffee and savor every bite of their scrumptious scones, you might just find yourself falling in love with not only the food but the ambiance and spirit of The Basement. It’s the kind of place where memories are made, stories shared, and connections built. If you’re in Armagh, do yourself a favor and indulge in the delightful offerings at The Basement—you won't regret it!

The Basement has been a staple of Armagh for a very long time and for good reason. Good, honest food that is incredibly reasonably priced. The girls know every person through the door and treat them all with unmatched customer service. I highly recommend their breakfast and their potato skins

My favourite place to eat in Armagh. Nothing fancy, no fine dining. Just good honest cooking done really well. Best fry up on the island. Dare I say, a little too cheap. I'd be happy to pay double the price amd still leave feeling I'd won
